Description:

Mario and friends once again take to the pitch in this second entry in the soccer series. Players form an original team by combining one of 12 captains with three of eight sidekicks before competing in one of the game's many modes. Anything goes in Mario Strikers Charged, as players are allowed to use a variety of special abilities to clinch important goals. Each captain has his or her own set of skills and super abilities, as well as the ability to perform special shots called Mega Strikes, where the iron ball splits into five balls and flies at the goal. The defending player must use the Wii Remote to target and aim at and shoot these balls out of the air before conceding a goal. Each of the stadiums in Mario Strikers Charged has various characteristics and contraptions, which influence game play. Players must learn to use this to their advantage to truly dominate the pitch.

Great great multiplayer game. It does seem to lack a bit when you're playing single player. The graphics are alright, and a lot of the characters really should be more balanced, but i believe it's an overall great game! SO HAPPY that the wii is FINALLY taking advantage of online play with this game!

I'd have to say this game has a too steep of a learning curve for people who just want to have some fun. After the first section of the Striker cup it gets about five tomes harder and that makes the game a not very good game because it takes way to long to get into to be worth renting

Thoroughly enjoyed this game from the very start. There's definitely a learning curve to it, but doing the training things and the challenges help a lot. The online play is a great feature but the other people on there are incredible and destroy me every time. I haven't been able to beat the Striker's Cup since the AI is pretty amazing, but that's better than being able to slaughter the computer every time. After a while the game starts to become a little repetitive, but that's when you have to grab some buddies and play with them, because that is a riot! All in all, pretty damn good game, definitely worth a look.

Personally, I just couldn't get into this game. It seemed to be missing a good portion of that unique charm that's made Mario a household name - because, I expect, a developer other than Nintendo built it. It's probably a solid game, but I just couldn't get into it.

This game is very similar to the first one for the Gamecube. The best features changed are specials for each character, and you can edit your team's lines, which is a great addition. Including that each character and teammate control differently. The worst thing is online it still is a little buggy, being the second game to use it, and everybody online is cheap using the Hammer Bros. which they should've made a little bit slower(because they are really slow already) or something, because it is unfair when your goalie gets knocked out and gets scored on. Making it so you can actually manually block the charged strikes is an amazing feature which quickly makes it from 6 possible goals to 0, unlike its predecessor.

Mario Strikers Charaged is the next installment in the strikers franchise. Theres new sidekicks, new captians, and new feilds! Matches still play the same except for a few things have changed. Captians are able to pull of moves called ''megastrikes'' which allow the player to pull of 6 goals in one shot. Items also have a little twist too. If your falling behind you still can get a chain chop or a star, but sometimes you get a power up which makes your charatcer grow huge, spit mud, or even have uncontrolable gas!! What makes this game a game to get is its multiplayer. You can do the usual match with a friend a home. Or you can go on nintendo wifi connection an battle anyone in your part of the world. Add some friends to you roster to challange them for miles and miles away. This mode also keep track of you wins and loses too. so if you a mario fan or just looking for a challange, put on your armor and get ready for Mario Strikers Charaged!!!

Mario Strikers Charged is the sequel to the best-selling Gamecube game "Super Mario Strikers", and it proves to be the superior. MSC takes advantage of the Wii controls in a number of ways. Flick your Wii Remote to tackle an opponent. Wave the nunchuk to interfere with someone's Megastrike meter. Use the Wii Remote to block Megastrike balls from entering your net. It's all here! There are a number of ways to play: Domination Draft: Play against the computer, or friends and family in a fully customizable versus match (including unlockable cheats). Road to the Striker Cup: Battle your way through three cups to earn the Striker Cup! Striker Challenges: Complete multiple challenges to unlock cheats and character cards. Strikers 101: Learn the basics to Mario Strikers Charged! Wi-Fi Central: Battle Online in Ranked, or Friendly Matches. MSC offers many Team Captains to choose from, along with a number of sidekicks. With skills shots, dekes, and more, each character is unique in a certain way. You can play at 5 different difficulties, and in multiple arenas. Mario Strikers Charged has it all! So whether you're a fan of soccer, Nintendo, or Mario, this game is for you! Mario Strikers Charged is one game no gamer should miss out on!

Calling this a 'soccer' game isnt really true to be honest. Its very arcady, and for the younger player i my opinion, and there isnt a lot of depth to it. The Multistrike special move, where you can score 5, 6, 7, 8 etc goals in one move, semi ruins this game, as it takes away the skill factor that any good soccer (its called football!) game should require. The internet play option is great though, and its currently the only way to experience online gaming with the Wii. A decent, if not very shallow game, thats worth a look, but Id honest sugest renting this one for a few fays before you buy, as its hardly a classic.

Well this game at first was fun until i played the wi-fi and the went through the easy striker cup lot. The reason is the striker cup when you go to the harder stages its like impossible to win. The wi-fi is the worst of this game except playing with your friends over the internet because it doesn't record the results and you get to have more things in it. Oh yer the wi-fi, when someone has a bad connection and you both are playing from a bad connection and when he does that mega strike and you press the balls and it doesn't work because of that bad connection and also i hate when someone puts the mega strike at high speed its almost impossible to get them. I do like the game kind of but in the end its a fun and fustrating game

Next Level Games is genius. Awesome awesome AWESOME game. I don't even like soccer and this is by far one of my favorites. I didn't play the first one for GC, but I know this must of been some sort of step up. Single-player can be challenge enough, and it doesn't give you any slack either for those liking a challenge. You lose in the elimination bracket round and you're out. No reseting, no power off; you're done. Also, the Challenges section of the game will help develope your skills to take it online. Having this game online has possibly multiplied the replay value. I like how you can play with a friend, on the same console, against folks online as well. The sound department is kickin' [no pun intended..] as well. The music that they chose for each character is amazing considering that it's not their "usual" themes. The characters also have a new attitute about them (especially Peach :P), it's just something you gotta see yourself, because it was completely unexpected to me. I could go on, but I think I'll just stop. Like I did, try it to see if you like it. Then when you do - buy it.

The game is alright. Awesome graphics, great sound and the new abilities of each player are soooooooooooo cool! However the gameplay itself can't rise to the level of Super Mario Strikers. The awesome aerial kicks after you lob pass to your player are gone. To me the greates feature of the game when you watch the replay. Also the multiple super striker when using your captain is over the top. Over all a very good game but not an amazing game like Super Mario Strikers for Gamecube.

This game is okay but when you go online to play other guests you can only play with two people on your team. You can only have four people playing if you are all playing on the same console. But the good thing is it’s harder than the first one because you could score goals easy on that one. There was like no competition.

This game is a tonne of fun. And it never gets boring playing against random people over the internet. My only complaint is some of the special parts of the new courses. AKA: lava, getting knocked off the course, having 1 or 2 players eliminated for an entire play, etc. I guess it is a Mario game and special things like that are to be expected, I just feel it took something away from an otherwise awesome game.

Pros -online play -tons of characters and teamates to choose from -tons of levels -good single player mode -great multiplayer mode cons -singul player can get hard especially last cup but still makes game fun -when blocking super shot sometimes not always responsive but pretty good most of the time overall: great game to play and when you get board playing by yourself you can play with friends. One game worth having showing that the wii has potential.

Great fun, easy to control when you get used to the Wii remote after several hours of play, and great online play too. On the flip side, the single player mode is pretty lacking, and the Mega Strike function is way too effective. More emphasis should be placed on scoring individual goals, not doing one special move that scores 5 times! On the whole though, prety good and well worth looking at

Soccer has left many traumatic experiences in my life. Back in elementary school I was either picked last even though my mommy always said I was the best soccer player ever, or I was picked first because I was the fat kid who could be goalie and could block all the goals with my bulk. This position is of course very boring which led to me sitting in the grass playing Pokémon Red for the duration of Recess. Additionally, there are risks such as this or even worse, this. I’ve never been a fan of professional sports, let alone video games based on them and hence I often have to resort to Nintendo’s crack head competition games, the latest addition is Mario Strikers Charged for the Wii. Strikers is basically five-on-five soccer where you choose a team captain from a selection of main Mario characters and three minor Mario characters/baddies (e.g. Toad, Shy Guy, Koopa Troopa, Boo, etc.) as your side-kicks. The fifth player is your crocodile goalie who is too cool to be selected. When both teams are ready the game will begin. By default, the games are three minutes long with the team to score the most goals wins and whoever wins best of three games wins the series. In versus mode, the time limit may be changed or the first team to score a certain amount of goals wins. Anyone who has played a soccer video game before should be familiar with the controls. When playing offense, A will pass the ball to other players, and B will cause the player to shoot. Passing the ball multiple times causes it to change colors and you will have a better chance to score when it glows white. When playing defense A will switch the player you’re controlling as you attempt to regain possession of the ball. Tackles can be attempted by the control pad as well as swinging the remote. Often when playing defense, the game pretty much becomes a tackle-fest and constant tackling will give your opponent Mario Kart-esque items that will help them fight you off. Koopa shells knock players down, mushrooms increase your movement speed, bombs will come crashing down with a hawk-soaring screech that could easily be the reason why Nintendo will be sued for stealing the exact same onomatopoeia my friend makes. Not to mention that some of the maps you play on are downright ridiculous. One map specifically is an ice field where everything is slippery and you randomly get hit by lightning, or a cow blows onto the field, or some other crap you can expect from *gasp* a Mario Party game. There’s a broad line between fun mayhem and retarded mayhem, and in this game’s case it’s the latter. Things get even crazier with character specific charge shots and special items. Some examples of the special items include Mario and Luigi growing to supersize proportions and trampling over opponents while Wario takes a cue from yours truly and farts his opponents away causing them to gasp for fresh air and stop playing altogether. Your side-kicks’ charge shots vary from ninja goals like Monty Mole’s burrowing and reemerging inside the goal to attack and conquer tactics such as Hammer Bros. throwing hammers at your goalie to stun him and then shooting into the goal. Team Captains have uber charge shots called Mega Strikes where you’ll shoot/throw/poop multiple balls at the goal at rapid speeds which will bring up a Wii-specific aim and shoot sequence for the defending goalie. Mega Strikes saves are fairly easy if you’re a veteran of Warioware: Smooth Moves but can be tricky with the often present lag when playing online. Incidentally, online is probably the most appealing thing about this game and was definitely the selling point for me. This is the only other online game for the Wii at the moment with Pokémon Battle Revolution being the other… but come on, who plays Pokémon still? Ten year-olds and those that think they’re ten year-olds, that’s who! Online matches play like offline matches… except they’re online and depending on your connection you could be playing just fine or through a PowerPoint presentation. Each week, players are ranked and only the most 1337 will be able to climb to the top. So even if you suck you still have a chance to redeem yourself in subsequent weeks. Like the DS online games you do have the option to play with your friends but only through Nintendo’s “Please don’t molest my child” codes which is still an omnipresent annoyance. Basically when the online isn’t raping your sister either via poor connection or pwnage, it’s a pretty decent addition. Mario Strikers and Mario Party have pretty much set the standard for what these type of games look like on the Wii and they have obviously improved over their GameCube counterparts. In Charged, characters show more detail on their bodies such as mud and explosion marks as a result of a bomb dropping on them or diving into the mud. Of course Peach looks like a whore with her tight pink two piece uniform. As with other Mario games you should expect to hear familiar phrases such as, “Wa-hoo,” “Mamma-mia,” and “Ima the winner!” The crowd cheers by chanting out the currently leading team captain’s name, with Wario’s cheer calling out to me specifically as a parody of the “Olé song” since that was a song I often heard from my computer classes since it was a nickname I was given based off my last name. Anyway the music may get your blood pumping for some soccer but it’ll probably get repetitive after the first few loops. Overall, Mario Strikers Charged is a decent game that is great for parties despite coordinating players with two people can be difficult. If you have no friends or have no access to Wi-Fi then you should definitely pass on this game as the single player is not all that great, sure there is the single player tournament and some challenge matches but you’ll probably lose patience from the staggering levels of cheapness of the computer players. If you have the urge to play online and can’t wait for Brawl to release later this year then this may hold you over until then.

A great arcade and multiplayer game, both on and offline, but the difficulty can be frustrating at higher levels to the point where in order to play this game with someone who is not really familiar with it is almost impossible. More like a hockey game anyway, what with all the checking and the board surrounding the pitch.

really excellent, the single player is actually worth playing this time (although still more long than challenging). Having differences in the characters is awesome. Some new feature, like skill shots, and the new goalie control makes it much more balanced. And, of course, wii-fi is probably the best addition ever.

Enormous fun and I only wish I was good enough to beat some online opposition. A reviewer below says, "when you get to the strikers cup it becomes almost impossible to beat, and the sad part is if you lose in the elimination round or the against the champion you have to start all over again..." That is the point of a knockout competition!

Its mario kart but footbal! Just as silly and just as easy to get to grips with, 4 player action is a must and online play makes it last.

This game is great. Soccer that allows you to use your hands. Haven't played the last one but the reason why I got this game was because it had online play and what a blast it was. There are 12 captains and less than 8 sidekicks. They each have their own skill and their great. The controls are great and the CPU are challenging in road to the Striker Cup. There is even an impressive 17 arenas to play. The only thing that was bad for me was the loading screens. They pop up when you finish a match, start a match, or start playing the game. This is a great game so if I was you, I would buy this game. And if you want to know my FC, ask me and give me yours and we will have a match sometime.

i love this games so much..i cant stop playing it and it gets very addictive when playing online....it feels great when you beat somebody online but there is always someone that you cant beat so you just gotta train hard to be the best....i think they have put everything on it that they possibly could and i hope that there will be a mario strikers 2 come out =]

Very fun game, esp with friends. The uniqueness of each character's abilities adds a lot of depth to the game, just wish there was more variety in the awesome music.

Ahh Super Mario Strikers Charged, It's a great game, it is a big improvement over the first one. The controls are tightened, the graphics are crisper and the game is just better all around. The ability to choose different sidekicks is a welcome addition and the mega strikes add a whole new strategy to the game, You could be winning 5-1 and the other team could get off a megastrike and soon you find that you are now tied. It really changes the pace of the game quickly. And now that the sidekicks have their own special ability it really adds to the depth of the game. The online play is nice, but sometimes it really lags and that can screw you over, but overall the online is smartly done. My only complaint with this game is the stupid road to strikers cup. Its easy at first but when you get to the strikers cup it becomes almost impossible to beat, and the sad part is if you lose in the elimination round or the against the champion you have to start all over again, so you just wasted 45 minutes of your life and you didn't even get anything out of it, but besides that minor complaint this game is great and should be picked up by any Mario fan or Wii owner.
