I normally don't talk to much about games on this forum, but this one is worth it. NiGHTS Journey of Dreams is the long awaited (11 years to be exact) sequel to the original NiGHTS game, NiGHTS Journey Into Dreams, on the Sega Saturn. It was a game developed by Sonic Team and Naoto Oshima. The purpose of the game was to capture the wonder of flight. It used 3D graphics with a combination of both 2D and 3D game play. It didn't receive proper attention until some time after release.
So, now that it's been 11 years, Kazuyuki Hoshino finally decided it was time to make a sequel to the NiGHTS Series exclusively to the Wii! I have had this game since Christmas, and I can safely say, this is my favorite game on the Wii with its great game play graphics and attention to detail (something Sonic Team likes to do). It retains the 2D and some 3D playing elements, which I am glad to see. It keeps the same entertaining game play as the other one had. Once you start, you'll keep playing trying to get the perfect combo and get your A rank. The movie scene graphics are stunning, but the cut scenes are decent looking, (reminds me of the Sonic Rider scenes). They have a wide variety of controls, Wii mote, Wii mote with Nunchuck and Retro Controller. You're sure to find one you will enjoy. But most of all, the music is amazing. Out of all the video games I have played, I can say that the sound is second to none, (I guess I'll have to see how good Brawl's sound is going to be). It's obvious that many hours were put into it, and they're efforts were not wasted.
But like all games, this does have a few bad points. The thing that annoys me most, the voice acting. It's mostly just a problem for the two kids, but progressively gets better as the game goes on.
Now, for the Wi-Fi Features. It has a ranking system for how your mission scores do against other players. You can also to a two person race against a friend or another person around the world. You also have a My Dream Garden, which is a lot like Chao Garden. You can visit or invite a friend or someone around the world to your garden. You can only exchange Nightopians with your friends.
In conclusion, I give this game a 9. It has many things to keep you entertained and glued to the Wii. I would highly recommend this to any gamer. Just because it's so much fun to play and it's addicting!
